With sea turtles in our heart
While TICATOVE has worked in the conservation of may animals, turtles are deep in our hearts. Our name comes from the Spanish name of the three sea turtles that nest in Vieques.

Ca- Carey (Hawksbill)
To Ve- Tortuga Verde (Green)
Puerto Rico is host to four of the seven endangered sea turtles in the world. Additionally to the three species that nest in Vieques, we also have the Loggerhead Sea Turtles that love the warm waters around Puerto Rico to relax between nesting seasons.
Because we have such an important location when it comes to turtle conservation, it is important we all remember that many of the most popular beaches for relaxing, snorkeling, diving, fishing, and boating are also favorites for the sea turtles. Please be mindful of all our aquatic friends and be respectful of marked nests, collect all your trash when you leave the beach, fill in any holes and tare down any sand castles, don't touch or harass sea animals, and be mindful of bright lights at the beach during the night.
