If you have been following along, you know that the phase 1 of the construction of the main observation deck for Monte Pirata project has leapt forward. Here are a few photos to excite you as the project continues. These are photos of the construction process. Members of the TICATOVE Green Crew working (with the local general contractor who is also teaching our Green Crew in construction techniques) are seen doing the layout for the observation deck, setting the footings to withstand 150 mile per hour winds and assembling and fastening the decking structure and walkway.
Additional future elements to be installed by the USFWS includes a mid-mountain parking lot, a hiking trail under the forest canopy and interpretive signage for the trails, parking and observation points. If being able to appreciate the natural wonders of the sub-tropical moist habitat in the Vieques National Wildlife Refuge with vistas toward the east and north excites you, please consider donating to support our efforts to re-open this significant community resource to the general public!
